    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time in the UK and especially my time at BMW. During that time I gathered at lot of new skills (e.g. skills in RPA) and gathered international experience as a part of BMW UK. To sum it up I really enjoyed my time working abroad here in the United Kingdom.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like I was part of the team at all times. My work was valued and rewarded. The support from my colleagues was fantastic, they helped me with problems which occurred and supported me as best as they could. To sum it all up the support I got from my colleagues was great.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support I got from my supervisors was great as well. They tried to help me whenever I had any difficulties with certain tasks or with any administrative problems in general. They always tried to find the best possible solution and were interested in my development which occurred during the time of my internship.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had days which were quite busy and some days which were less busy. I could use the non-busy days to drive my own small projects and that was honoured by my manager and the team. Of course the were some days on which there were less tasks but the number of those isn't that huge and of course there were days which were quite busy but I think that normal in every job.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I couldn't complain about the responsibility I got. I got my own small project which I were in charge to drive during the three month period. I never had the impression to be overwhelmed, but on the other hand I also didn't had the impression that I just get the task nobody else wanted to do.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think I gathered two major experiences/skills during the time of my internship. First of all I got insights in RPA (Robotic Process Automation) which especially during times of digitalization is a very valuable experience. The second major experience I received is the international experience working abroad for a certain period is something which is very helpful especially in your later career. On top of that I can this experience to drive the progress of my management degree study.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was very good. The atmosphere in the office was very team focused and enjoyable. It motivated me to spend time in the office and to give my best every day in the job. I never felt like a stranger or somebody coming from an other country just always as an equal member of the team.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was bit difficult mainly due to the fact that my recruitment took place during vacation period resulting in the fact that my point of contract changed many times during that process and as I were not in the UK at that point in time it was a bit difficult. But in the end I got the impression that everybody tried their best to get me on board a smooth as they could.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The provided my with guidance and online trainings in order to prepare myself for the tasks I got during the internship. Even before I came to the UK my manager wanted to give my the best possibilities to prepare myself for the upcoming tasks. All in all I think the support in that perspective was quite good.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are many future opportunities in that company especially in the field of digitalization and automation. After I finished my university degree it's quite likely that I use one of the opportunities I got to start working with that company. I not 100% sure if this is at home or will be abroad again.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the youngest one working in the office and as far as I know there was just one other student working in the office. So I can't really say something about that point except the other student who worked in the office helped my a lot especially at my first days after arrival.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I think when you work in the surroundings of London you expect that is quite expensive. In the end I have to say that it was okay it was not cheap but not as expensive as I expected it to be but compared to my home it was a bit more expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I didn't really enjoyed nightlife during the time of my internship mainly due to the fact that I was quite exhausted when I came home after work and on the weekends I simply didn't have the time to do it. To sum it up I can say something about that point.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many activities to get involved outside of work especially organized by the company. they really wanted to get the people in contact with each other mainly due to the fact that many people who worked there had a longer commute very morning. The range of activities started with sport activities and ended with socializing.
