    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was responsible in my role for maintaining the users within our SAP system. In addition to this, I would create and raise product orders for our cost center. Also, I handled project management in integration and found replacements for existing outdated applications that were standard within BMW Group. I would align with my colleagues daily to split up workloads and I was responsible for preparing our weekly team meeting.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills in my time here, as well as developing my soft skills considerably. I have learnt how to use a bespoke SAP system, in a variety of different transactions. I have developed skills in steering and leading projects, and I have a much better understanding of communication within the workplace in many different aspects, such as workplace etiquette, customer interaction, colleague interaction and an opportunity to practice my German.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a significant amount of responsibility during my internship. I felt during my role, that I was valued as a member of my team and took on real projects from both Applications and Integration handling our incoming requests. I was trusted to get on with work without frequent steering, and that if I did need support, that I would involve my colleagues.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group
  • To show honesty and accountability. Your manager would want to see that you are dependable in addition to technically skilled, and being able to admit when you don't know something is a very desirable trait. Attitude can make a big difference to the outcome of an interview and so try to keep this in mind when answering interview questions.
