The Role
I enjoyed my insight very much. I got the opportunity to work in New York and gained exposure to the music production industry which I did not really know much about before. This was great for me in terms of learning as it was real world experience that I could apply knowledge to.
To an extent, I did feel valued by my colleagues. They gave me lots of opportunities to make major decisions and apply my knowledge, as well as giving me leadership roles. However, at some points, I felt as if I was rather being spoonfed what they wanted me to do sadly.
I was given a lot of guidance and support by my supervisors. This was mainly through helping me on the job but they also provided me with long-term guidance for help to get into the music industry which I really appreciated from them. Furthermore, I feel as though they helped me a lot with familarising myself to the industry.
I always had something to do while working there which was good as it meant I always was occupied but I would not say that I was too busy as it was never too much for me to handle. I also never felt too bored with the tasks and they were not too repetitive.
I was given some responsibility during my placement. I was given some decisions to make for the production of some music but I felt sometimes that I was rather being told what to do by someone else which was sometimes annoying. Nevertheless, there were other opportunities where I felt like I had a leadership role.
I think that this internship was very useful as it provided me with a glimpse into the world of music and what this industry is like and I was also trained in how to produce music in an efficient manner so this gives me a greater understanding of music on top of this.
The Company
Generally, the people I was working with were quite fun and friendly so it never felt boring at the studio I was working at. Also, there were new people there everyday which was nice as I got to meet new people and this was quite fun and quite refreshing as well.
I think that the internship was set up very well. This is because I felt like I slotted quite well into their company so it felt like they planned out my tasks quite well and they knew what role I was going to have and what I would be doing for the studio.
I think that they invested a lot in me in terms of personal training as I am not only familiar with the music industry now but also with how music is produced in a studio and this has provided me with a greater understanding of music as a whole which is very nice to know.

I would definitely love to work with them in the future or in a similar job in music production as I definitely enjoyed working there with the employees. I would also say that they enjoyed having me there and I would hope that they would want to see me back there in the future.
The Culture
There was a good social scene between me and the other employees working at the studio. I felt like this was quite nice as since I got along with them, I got to work with them much better and I felt like we started sharing similar ideas and I even got to learn from them.
This internship was based in New York but thankfully, my university paid for my accomodation there which was very nice of them but otherwise, it is reasonably priced. There are lots of well-valued opportunities to socialise there as well after work which is very nice to relax and unwind so living there was amazing.
There was a lot of nightlife in New York as expected and there is pretty much something for everyone on each street and this was nice as it meant I did not have to go far to find something for me. Such was also reasonably priced as well which was good.
There were many opportunities to get involved in outside of work. The colleagues there were really friendly so always wanted to meet up outside of work which was amazing for me as I got to experience New York as well while I was there doing my internship and got to make new friends.
