Worked within the Trafford Park Distribution Centre and Hammersmith Head Office in London to gain an invaluable experience into Flow Operations, Order Preparations, Logistics, Supply Chain and Subcontracting with a detailed insight into Warehouse Operations in the UK's Largest Distribution Centre for L'Oreal with an expanding sector for E-Commerce. Spotlights of experience into smaller areas included Marketing, Commerce, Personal Branding and Finance with an additional task of Project 'Bing' - a project assigned to me on developments which could be made around the Supply Chain or Office as well as an assessment centre in Hammersmith to showcase our hard-work and what we learned during the week.
Really got an in-depth insight into all departments within Operations and got the ability to incorporate the knowledge I learned at university in a real business situation. Being the only intern gave me a better insight and more detailed knowledge into each area of the supply chain and Logistics.
Very welcoming feel, adapted well to the business within a short amount of time. I felt happy to be included in all areas, all my ideas were accepted and views on how to improve their business from a pair of eyes outside of the business were valued
A lot of guidance was given! I was supported by a lot of members of staff from around the business and if there was any questions, they were answered on the spot or they would investigate further for me. Throughout the first few days, more guidance was need to to be in a new environment but all was provided more than adequately.
The skills I learned during this week will help me see business from a different perspective. To see business from a reality perspective and also to use those skills to further enhance my business analysis, observation and decision. Knowledge in operations will help me do better in Management Accounting for example.
Structure was done well, it was the first year they did this at Trafford Park and I found it to be a success. Further structure could be added as one of the conference calls were disconnected but as it was offsite, it was difficult to manage.
Welcome, encouraging and more than pleasing! It was amazing to network with other interns as well as members of staff. The atmosphere was clean, there was a true focus on sustainability, ethics and safety. The flexibility of work and the team dynamic was very good and I adapted quickly.
Got a true insight into the every department, a lot of the information was provided and a very detailed experience. They invested me with a lot of information and experiences.
I had more insights into some areas than others and so I got useful insights into most areas as to what a full time role would be like including the challenges and strengths in each role.
Gave me a direct insight into the business and their culture, experienced rather than just told and the environment is very nice and welcoming.
Very useful, I found that operations and supply chain was really good and that I would consider it highly as a role in the future
Travel was reimbursed, hotel and trains were booked for me to go to London for the Assessment Centre.
Yes, lots of friendly staff willing to keep in contact and share their experiences. Always valuable to network with others and contact with them in the future, all were more than happy to help and support me in the future.
No direct opportunities but the staff were always willing to connect if you asked to do so
Yes, socials are common in the London office but less so on the Manchester DC centre.
Definitely, the most insightful internship ive had so far. A very full on experience but a lot to learn in one week.
