    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was hugely enjoyable. My team was welcoming and friendly making it easy to approach senior team members for work. The fellow interns also made the time enjoyable as all attended EY socials and even organised socials ourselves. I made some great friendships that I know will end with the end of the internship.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The approachable nature of the colleagues and their desire to talk to me about the work that they do made me feel hugely apricated as part of the team. Work varried from office admin for a graduate level team member to shadowing a partner. Perform all of these task to best of your ability and your team will appreciate you.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • EY offers a councillor and a buddie. I regularly met up with my councillor where she took me through the experience map and directed me towards the correct people who would be able to offer me the experiences. My buddie was a superb level one who took me under her wing from the outset; ringing me up pre internship and introducing me to the hole team.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As my team was so approachable, I found it difficult not to ask them for work. They seemed eager to give me work when I asked for it. This made me very busy, balancing various tasks at a time. It would be easy however, if you are not proactive, to not have as much work – my only concern from the internship.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In terms of responsibility, I was given (what I feel to be) as much as possible that could be given to an unqualified 4 week intern. Although, I was only a short term intern, I was able to sit in on high level client calls and meetings, preparing external emails and making external calls.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of my degree, I feel the skills I have learnt will not benefit it that well however, in terms of future careers and future working, it has been truly invaluable. Interacting with clients, senior team members and other team members is a great experience that you cannot get id you do not do an internship / get work experience.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Superbly organised from start to finish. The communications between Student recruitment and me were clear, in good time, and correct. There was never a point during the internship where I thought that it wasn’t organised well. Socials for networking were also well organised with free drinks and food provided to all.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company has really sold itself to me making future career options. The whole feel of the place is very positive and the cheesy line that the EY lives up to its culture is so very true. You can tell there is a focus on the people as that is reflected in the people themselves.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social aspects was fantastic as the other interns were very much like minded and easy to get on with. I made some fantastic friends during the internship who will stay friends for a long time. This I think is down to the recruitment process recruiting the same type of person – this is great in terms of socialising.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Coming from the north and working in London gives the obvious increase in the cost of living. London is VERY expensive. Tube to and from work, lunch from a food outlet, a few drinks after work and the tube home and you can spend upwards of £40!! An expensive day! Tip; make your own lunch and buy a travel card for the tube.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
