    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed it thoroughly. I was able to explore other areas within the company, not just marketing. There was good exposure to senior management and lots of hands on experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team made a big impact. From the start they tried to integrate us into the team, and treated us as part of the team throughout- good learning opportunities.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My buddy was excellent- provided me lots of on the job training (as the area was specialist), and was patient and helpful throughout.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was rather busy through the day. On days where I was not as busy, I kept myself busy by working with other teams within the department.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility increased over the duration of the internship. At the start it was mostly knowledge and skill based, but later on, it involved more autonomous and challenging tasks.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Studies have been finished, but the internship provided the chance to explore other areas of interest for me. I will pursue new things I learned in the internship later on.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Friendly atmosphere. People held no reservations when talking to interns, and they were always happy to talk, give advice, and share experience.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was fine, but I think it could have been a little better in terms of structure. Perhaps a week outside the area you were streamed into would have been useful- understanding the investment side of the company while I worked in marketing could have been done better through one week spent in the investments departments.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The team invested a lot- they provided learning materials where necessary and really helped learn and develop. The HR department was also really good- organising presentation skills and excel workshops were really helpful. So were the SDI and Insights evaluations. I think this could have been improved a bit more. perhaps having a week by week plan for the interns at the start of the internship will be a good way to gauge progress and development.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I do not know if I have a job with them or not, but if given the chance, I think I would accept it. The company does value you, and the people you work with all support your development.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we hosted drinks, dinners, and smaller group catch ups at our flats. People were all friendly and it was rare that I did not get along with anyone.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is of course quite expensive, so socialising was difficult with the budget I had set myself.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Lots of opportunities, but again, quite pricey. Many pubs and restaurants nearby, if not, SOHO is not that far.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • To some extent. I would occasionally grab drinks with people at work, but there was not really a sports team or activity that I was really invited to by people at work.

    3/5
