    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This placement was right up my street, I had to be focussed and switched on but was able to work creatively and create work that I could be proud of. It was a tough year and I was worked hard but it was an extrememly valuable experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • We all got on very well and there was a mutal level of respect for the most part, we had regaular 'team days' where we would be out of the office to do something a little different and spend time together outside of the work environment as well as a christmas party where we could let our hair down a little. I know that the work I did to help out my colleagues was well recieved and I was respected as a valuable memeber of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Most of my work was always checked and I was given feedback and constructive criticism to help me improve, I was always able to ask questions or if I wasnt sure about something someone would be able to offer guidance in one way, shape or form.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beginning of my internship I picked up the role very quickly and got my daily tasked done at a fast pace which meant that I was often left with nothing to do. As I was new to the role not many people knew me or came to me with jobs or for help. As I passed the six months mark my workload grew and I have been extrememly busy. As well as my standard daily tasks I took on several extra projects and people would often come to me for help. It was great to not be bored but I often felt over worked.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A huge amount which was great! It was just myself and my boss running internal communications and she took on an extra project during the year and so I was heavily relied on. It was a great opportunity to get stuck in and I definitely feel as though I made a difference at my work.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The knowledge i've gained this year is second to none, not only have my communication and writing skills imporved hugely but so has my confidence. I can speak confidently infront of large groups and those that are of a much higher rank in the business. I have learnt the ins and outs of communications and really believe I could use the skills from this year in any job I might have in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A few months into my internship our office moved into a shared office with another department. Being the communications department we are known to be chatty and have a laugh although this wasnt always appreciated by our neighbours and so the atmophere definitely dulled down a lot and it's often very quiet.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall good, contract was a bit slow to come through but wasn't the fault of my supervisors. I had a great handover with the internbefore me and the same goes for my successor.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I've learnt a lot this year and have had the opportunity to attend various events and talks from external companies. I wouldnt say 'personal training' was provided by the company however.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company don't offer many graduate schemes at all, particularly in the department I would be interested in as it is such a small department in such a large company - I highly doubt that I will be given the opportunity to return to the company in a role that would interest me.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • For those that moved to Oxford for the role - yes! They held regular intern socials where they would go to the pub and had a group chat. I lived at home during my placement and so had a 45 minute commute so unfortunately did not live very local to the other interns.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so had good living costs. Oxford however is a very expensive city to rent in but it's a great city.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife is decent - not amazing but you can always have a good night out.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • there's lots going on in oxford it's a great city full of events, there's an annual festival in the park and much more!
