    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I've had the best year ever at L'Oreal! I've had so much fun but also learnt so much - about the beauty industry and about myself. The team I worked with were engaged and passionate about the brand which made it exciting to come into work everyday.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Throughout my 12 months I feel as though I've earned a great amount of respect from my team as they gave me more responsibility. It was not a given that I was given a big project, I had to work hard to prove to my manager I was capable.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager is great and has really become a real mentor to me. She has really pushed me to work hard and given me the opportunity to excel in projects. She is interested and almost just as passionate about my future career goals within L'Oreal.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This completely varied. There was a point at the 6 month mark where I was given many admin tasks from other teams and no time to focus my own objectives. I ended up speaking to my manager and she helped me to prioritise and locate the right tasks to the right people.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Throughout my placement I was given increasingly more responsibility. As much as I did admin tasks for my team I was also given big projects and the opportunity to own them. However it was up to me to push myself above and beyond.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel so much more confident going into my final year of university. The optional modules I've chosen really reflect the work I have done this year so feel I will be able to contribute in seminars and workshops with relevant conversation. I'm looking forward to writing a dissertation after I have been able to experience the subject in a real work environment.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was always excited to come into work everyday and catch up with my team. I feel as though I have built some really strong relationships with them and will definitely be keeping in touch next year.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The induction process was really smoothed and it was really useful being automatically enrolled onto training modules within L'Oreal.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are so many opportunities to up skill yourself with training sessions. Additionally some of the most valuable things I learnt were from the network I built. Everyone is always happy to go for a coffee to chat about their role and responsibilities.
