The Role
I absolutely loved my internship. From start to finish the faith that the company had in me was empowering. I felt valued and trusted and this is testament to the work that P&G invest in their 'people first' approach. I was given large scale opportunities enabling me to grow way beyond my role.
100% valued 100% of the time. Once trained in your role you are considered the expert and you must rise to this level of expectation. It is one of the great things about working within P&G.
My direct manager was excellent. I was continuously pushed and encouraged to continue my growth and to push the boundaries of my internship. I was given guidance on not only role related topics but pushed towards considering where this role would take me. My supervisors were keen to lead discussions on my dissertation and the plans for after University which meant I left the company with a more complete idea of where I see my career flourishing.
I soon learnt that this is very much related to how busy you make yourself. You control your own boundaries and if you continue to push with your workload then you will find yourself busy.
I feel like versus my expectations for the role I was very impressed with the responsibility given. I had no expectation to cover a role that was such high risk and to be so valued by business leaders because of this was fantastic, However, the reason I have opted for only 7/10 is because with hindsight I wish there had been more responsibility. With aspirations to lead I feel like I could have had more exposure to team management opportunities and taking control of higher risk decisions. I do, though, understand that this is simply the culture of the business and not something my managers/supervisors could control.
There is no doubt that I am now heading into my final year at University in a very strong position and that is thanks to this year. With regard to future roles I have gained a base level of understanding with regard to theory based ideas. From a practical point of view I have developed considerably.
The Company
The atmosphere was ideal. I was part of a vibrant and lively team who can make you smile on the dullest of days. I learnt so much about team dynamics and effective management from experiencing such a friendly and supportive group of team members and managers. From my first day this relaxed and composed me at even the most pressured of times.
Generally, very well set up. P&G have years of experience in this and so there were no concerns at any point. If anything, my development meant that I pushed the boundaries of it's organisation by striving for more work - but there was always something to do.
Every single day of every week the company invested in me and this has contributed to how much I enjoyed the experience.

This question is very much dependent on the opportunities that the organisation can offer me. To be offered a permanent role of the same capacity as my internship I would have to look elsewhere. The advantage of this year is that I have developed enough to take the next step towards a management role. If P&G could offer this to me I would not even hesitate to accept.
The Culture
Yes. I was fortunate enough to be a part of a group of interns who all had the shared intention of spending time and socializing with one another. This is another benefit of the internship as I mixed with people who maybe I would not 'choose' to socialize with normally. For myself that is simple but for others who are less comfortable this year will most definitely improve overall confidence with regard to making friends and socialising.
Living costs are very much dependent on the area of Newcastle you choose to live in. If you opt for cheaper areas inhabited by younger professionals then costs are generally quite low. As a city Newcastle is fantastic value for money. Having studied here for University I already knew the ins and outs but generally it is a cheaper place to live.
The infamous '3 trebles for £5' offer is enough to sway many a student to live in the city of Newcastle. The night life is well known for being one of the top places in the country.
Yes. Procter & Gamble offer a wide range of activities as part of their sports and social club. As a member (or even as a non member) you can partake in things such as football and go-karting and get involved in socieities such a P&Gs GABLE team.
