  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I really felt valued when working with my colleagues. While working on a project, my thoughts and feedback would be taken into account. I did not feel like a placement during my time here.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From the start to the end of my placement, there has always been great amount of help available. Working as a web developer, it's natural to have loads of questions about the requirements, correct practices, etc and since I would be sitting close to all the developers, help was always available. At ProspectSoft, everyone is ready to help each other which made my placement very enjoyable.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As a Web Developer, I always had plenty of work to get on with. This included customer work as well as working in internal projects. Even after my first month of training was done, I was given many opportunities to work on customer project straight away. Even if you are finish with you work, it's always easy to find more work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Straight after my training was done, I was given the responsibility to work on customer's websites. At the beginning the work given was smaller but as I gained more technical skills, I was given more responsibilities such as working on large internal projects along with customer's websites.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During my time here at ProspectSoft, I was able to take part in many projects in a work environment. I was able to greatly improve my technical skills as well as my soft skills as working in projects requires a lot of working with other people and communication. All these skills learned with definitely help me with my university's final year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office is very chilled and relaxed. When I moved into my department after my training, I felt welcome straight away and got along with everyone really well. Everyone is also very helpful so whenever I was stuck, I would not hesitate to ask anyone and they would happily help me with my problems.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement scheme from ProspectSoft is great because it has been going for over 10 year now and it helps bring the best placement to the company. After I joined ProspectSoft, I was given two types of training. First was a more general training about the company and its business process. Second was more specific to my job role. After my training, I felt confident to move onto my job role.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training given to us divided into two different types. The first month of my placement was dedicated to training. In this training, I was able to learn about the company, the business as well as tools which we use throughout the company. The second training was more specific to my job role. As an assistant web developer, I was given training on how to use tools such as our Content Management System (CMS) which we use to manage customer websites. I also had a week of shadowing previous placement so that I could see what sort of work I would be doing during my placement.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Working at ProspectSoft was a great experience and if I was given the opportunity to come back, I would most definitely take it. This would mean a lot of future planning specifically for me because I live all the way in Kent and the permanently moving to Oxford would be quite daunting. A lot of people working at ProspectSoft are returning placement therefore it goes to show that working here is very appealing!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are a lot of social events happening all the time at ProspectSoft. From the night outs in Oxford to great company BBQs. During my placement, I joined the badminton group. We would go for a badminton session very Monday after work. There are trampoline sessions where we go every third Wednesday of the month. There are also other social activities going on such as climbing, football, etc. So there is a bit of activity to suit everyone.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in Oxford during my placement year therefore things like rent was very high! If you are good with your money and save a certain amount every month, you should not have much of a problem. Socialising was a little expensive because most of the time it would be in Oxford and drinks are not cheap!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The office is located in a small quite village therefore the nightlife was non-existent. Given that, Oxford is not that far away from where we away (around 20 minutes). If we wanted to go for a night out, we would all head over to Oxford and have a blast of a time!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • You can always find different activities to get involved in. My favourite has been badminton and trampoline sessions as they helped me keep fit over my placement year. There are also other activates such as the board games night, football, rock climbing. There are loads of different game consoles as well. Anyone is welcome to play any game there or even bring your own game. We even had company Rocket League competition (great game). If you ever want to start a new activity/sport, you will find that loads of people will be happy to participate.
