The Role

Role Description

I work alongside copyright lawyers to identify websites that have infringing WB content on them, then we work on getting the content removed and finding a source.

1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

I have enjoyed every moment at Warner Bros in the past year. It has been great to work in the entertainment industry and see if it was something I wish to do in the future. Warner Bros is such a wonderful company to work for, with its perks and friendly attitude.

2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

Extremely valued, I was given real responsibility from my colleagues which allowed me to grow and become more mature as an individual. The team were great, and very encouraging throughout my placement, with weekly meetings and monthly catch ups on my progress. Overall, all my colleagues were wonderful and they were a great team to work in.

10/10

3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

I was given alot of support in my first week with a handover week from the previous intern, which allowed me to ask any questions I had. After, I was left to work alone; my manager was always on standby for support and helped me in the job on a day to day basis.

4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

Depends every day is different. When a new film is released, I was extremely busy for the first two weeks of release and TV shows are on weekly, so that takes up a massive chuck of your time. Ad hoc requests come up as well, which can always take up time and make you that bit busier.

9/10

5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

I was given alot of responsibility as my placement was a real job; there was no point when I am making coffee. Also, I learn key skills while working at Warner and I hope to take that away with me into my next job. The tasks you are given from your management are tasks that are needed for the company, not to waste your time.

8/10

6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

Absolutely, I hope it will help me in the future. Time management was a key skill I learnt as Warner Bros which is a massive life lesson especially with university and making use of the time you have. Also, a key skill for my job in particular was attention to detail, which in my final year will help massively.

The Organisation

7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

The office is very relaxed, and a pleasure to work in. There was never a point when I felt intimidated. Employees are really relaxed and happy to help you whenever you need assistance. I worked on a floor with different departments but no matter what department you are in, everyone talks to everyone.

8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

Very well organised. As there are over 50 different intern positions at Warner everything is planned very well, with contracts and training all set up before you step inside the door. There were no gray areas around the placement, I knew exactly what to expect before starting and really enjoyed my time working here.

9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

The company invested in me completely with several training sessions throughout the year. Training sessions including presenting me, and several CHAT sessions which helped me see my progress and allowed me to grow. Also, we had a morning about the company to understand all the departments which was nice to know the wider circle.

10. What were the perks on your work placement?

  • Flexi Time
  • Company Parties/Events

11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

Very appealing, I feel there could definitely be a prospect in the future and Warner is always in contact with new jobs they have to offer. Warner has so many different departments, so if you wanted to branch out from film to TV or finance to marketing, anything is possible.

5/10

Social

12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

Extremely good social science, interns are all in an email chain and always organising nights out. Thursday is usually the night out for interns, and everything is welcome even other employees within the business. Lunch is always popular to meet other interns with the cafe being in easy access for everyone.

5/10

13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

London is expensive, so rent is always going to be pricey. Half the interns do commute and half live in London but both have its perks. Living in London is easy access to home, and you get to enjoy it for the whole year to see if it was something you wish to do in the future.

5/10

14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

Nightlife is good, with the office near Covent Garden and Soho they are a vast list of clubs and pubs to go to. Interns always look out for the happy hours which as you can imagine in London they are many to choose from. There is also plenty of activities to entertain you as well.

5/10

15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

Plenty, I participated in Sleepout during my time here which was sleeping in the streets for a night to raise money for charity. It was an amazing night, and so many interns got involved. Premieres are also a highlight, and if you are lucky enough to get a ticket you wouldn’t want to miss it.
