    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really enjoyed the event! I liked how it was structured in that we were given insight into different streams and given group tasks throughout to help us get used to working together and networking.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt that graduates and members of the firm wanted to be there and wanted to help us and answer our questions. I also liked how there was a more laid back approach to networking over lunch and during breaks which doesn't often happen at similar events that I have attended.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I feel that I was given a lot of guidance, advice and opportunities to have my queries answered. It was a really great chance to network and start building professional relationships that I will hopefully be able to build later.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe that the skills I developed such as presentation skills, networking, problem solving and analysing are all skills that you develop through events such as these and they stick with you throughout life regardless of whether it is an educational or professional setting.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was well structured in terms of there was a variety of different tasks and talks but I would have liked a more hands on approach for each stream. Ie. have more tasks orientated insight such as shorter talks about the individual streams and then working in teams on example tasks that each streams do on a regular basis.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I think it was a very relaxed atmosphere and it definitely made my anxious feelings vanish immediately. I think that having a grad on every table meant that it did't feel like we were in it alone or left to our own devices but had a mentor throughout.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of actually training, there was, in my opinion, little to none but this isn't necessarily a bad thing as I understand that Insight is more for understanding the firm and them getting a chance to see what you are like rather than beginning training.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I believe that they did try to give insight to each stream and of course graduates explained what their day to day lives were like but I feel like a practical element would have been better in terms of understanding each stream better.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I believe they tried to show all the different sides of EY and especially the work life balance which I value highly. My personal impression was that it was very relaxed which is something I really like about EY.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was definitely a deciding factor and it has given me the confidence to pursue a career in finance when I had initially thought I was not able to.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Personally, I feel that a few of the smaller streams or areas of the business were not represented, for example Business Valuation which is the area that I would like to go into, which would have been nice but I understand that there was time pressure in trying to fit everything into one day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The entire process was an opportunity to network and meet other employees which I really enjoyed.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were really relaxed but I felt that there was not a lot of rotation; I don't think I had the chance to speak to as many people as I would have liked to.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, they did explain the work-life balance and other activities that they get up to outside of work. I personally like the sports teams, I would like to get involved with that.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely! I think it was highly enjoyable and a great opportunity for any student.
