The Role
This was the best internship I've ever had! I thought it was amazing that it was an actual internship program, meaning that amazing events were planned for us interns - from induction, meeting the executives, personality tests and farewell events. Another very important factor is that King's culture is literally magical. There are no words to describe this place - one has to work there to understand.
All of my team members were super nice and were very open with getting to know me. I knew that I could go to them no matter what questions I had - they would always help and support me. In addition, I really felt like I was being needed and that the projects I was working on, had big value.
I had full support and guidance from my manager and team. I didn't hesitate to ask them for help or queries as I knew they would be willing to help me. All of them wanted me to receive as many HR insights as possible, therefore I was able to get an insight to the different HR functions as well as traveling to Barcelona to meet the team there.
I had three main projects during my time there, meaning that I was able to plan my own time and deadlines. At the same time, if I felt like I needed more things to do, I would just ask my team if I could assist them with anything. As I was working with Sweden closely, there were some slower days, as they had "Swedish Summer" therefore communication was slower. However during that time I found other activities to do.
What I thought was amazing, was on my first day, when I sat down with my manager, we went through the projects and expectations. Right from the start I had huge amounts of responsibility - however my manager also mentioned that if I want more or less I should let him know.
The internship really triggered my passion for Human Resources. I met incredible people, that also showed me that there is not one specific path to be successful in HR. I now specialised in HR courses in my last year at uni and will definitely not only write my Bachelor's Thesis in HR but I am really thinking about doing my Masters in HR as well. There were new impressions every single day and I really got a deep insight of how a HR function works in a fairly young company.
The Company
The atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was motivated and excited about work. I feel everyone I met really represented King's culture and values perfectly.
I feel especially for a fairly young company it is pretty well organised. Things move very quickly (which I love), however they still manage to get everything done on time and adapt to the flexible life.
We definitely had training and development at our time there - from personality test (DiSC) to meeting the executives, it really gave us the opportunity to grow.

It would definitely be amazing to get a job at King in the future. As I still have 1 year left and they don't know what positions they'll be needing in 1 year - especially in HR, they said I should definitely get in touch with them in 6 months to look at the options. However a lot of the other interns, that have finished their degrees, managed to become a full employee at King - I am so proud of them!
The Culture
Definitely! Since we had an induction and farewell event planned for us, we were able to also meet the interns from the other locations (Stockholm, Berlin, Malmo & Barcelona). It as amazing spending time with them and all sharing the same passion - King! Also if we didn't have an event, lunch was always spent together during the week, as well as meeting up over the weekend or after work. Of course, that wasn't always the whole group (London interns) as they were either busy etc. but the people I spent most time with, I am still in touch with.
London it self is definitely not cheap - however that being said, King was very generous with the salary and any other benefits - free breakfast, snacks, gym etc. that there was definitely less spending in general and that I didn't feel a big difference to when I live in Germany. There is so much to do in London, that it is frustrating not to manage everything on the 'to-do' list before you leave.
London nightlife is crazy! It also differs a lot in the different areas. London nightlife normally ends around 3am - however at the same time there is something going on every single day. The weather was amazing this summer, meaning that there were a lot of rooftop bars and generally events in London going on. You can literally not be bored in London.
You can find anything and everything in London!
