    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A large amount responsibility making me feel valued within the team. High expectations encourages good progression and training provided by VW is very good to help excel skills.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone is very welcoming, your previous undergrad will set up meeting with people across the brands and that will really help you settle in and help build your confidence.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support is always offered, no one will expect you to know everything so they will give you time to adapt and learn at your own pace. Remember to ask questions and you should be fine!

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • You will always have things to do, within your first month you will be tested with time management which is a very good skill to learn.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Being part of a project I was given a lot of responsibility which at first seemed a lot but I was given time to learn processes and the project so by the end of it I felt comfortable and challenged in my role.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained many skills from excel to Deloitte software so I was constantly learning new things. But the best part was VW would offer a full training day dedicated to teaching you thoroughly.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within the office was very welcoming, everyone would say hello and crack a joke or two which meant it was always slightly relaxed. You are expected to do your work but at the same time there is always time to have a chat and socialise around the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It is very well organised, within your first month you will have many inductions to make sure you fell comfortable in the business, your line manager will also have a sit down with you and go through what he/she expects from you and ways you can go about it. I was lucky enough to have two roles which is great but in your last few months you are allowed to go to other parts of the business and shadow different departments.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot, you are able to book trainings day and you have compulsory ones that you must attend. They don't treat you like kids and the training days are actually really fun and very educational. There are also modules which you must complete which touch on topics such as competition law.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Out of the 39 interns 3 will get the chance to have a golden ticket which will fast track you into the assessment centre.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes there is, most weekends we are always hanging out and within the first week there was already a whatsapp chat created. We are always meeting at lunch and there is always something being planned. We also had weekly undergrad football set up!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living equates to around £80 a week on rent, the nightlife is a little expensive but apart from that gym can be found for £10 a month and everything is relatively close.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Bit expensive and because Milton Keynes does not have any uni's it struggles to offer a good night out.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are always emails flying around about things you can do outside of work which is very pleasing especially because if you would like to do some charity work you are able to through many schemes offered.
