    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I've loved my year at Warner Bros. Working in marketing within the film/entertainment industry is exciting and fast paced, you really do learn something every day. Working in theatrical marketing means constantly looking at new projects and targeting different groups, the Warner Bros slate is so varied it means having to produce fresh ideas for new audiences every day. There are around 50 other interns across the divisions at Warner Bros so the social life is great

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues. The team I worked in was small and tight knit meaning the interns opinions were valued and the work we were given was important. As they have interns every year you really do have an important job role, rather than at other companies where you just might help out where you can and may have to look for work to do.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Regular meeting reviewing my progress were set up with my manager. She was very supportive and helpful with anything I wanted to achieve but during my time at Warner Bros, such as different aspects of marketing/publicity, and after my placement, such as some extra work experience at an agency after my time at Warner Bros.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There are busier times around the releases of bigger films. Generally however I was kept busy consistently during my internship. As you get faster at doing things that might have taken you longer at the start of your internship you have to opportunity to take on extra projects or workload.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In the EMEA theatrical marketing team you are give a great deal of responsibility. You are working in the regional head quarters of around 40 different countries and responsible for high budget marketing executions. The amount of responsibility I was give far exceeded what I had expected before the placement.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think the skills I’ve developed at Warner Brothers will help me an infinite amount with both the remainder of my degree and my future professional life. There lots of training sessions for the interns in which skills across all areas needed in business, from excel to presenting, are developed.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Warner Brother is very used to taking interns on. They’ve done it for around 10 year so are very good at organising your year so you get the most out of it. Right from accepting the job offer you’re constantly kept in the loop and in contact with your line manager and fellow interns.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Warner Brothers don't offer a formalised grad scheme so re employment within the company isn't massively likely. However many marketing interns go on to work for Warner Brother agencies or media partners who do offer graduate positions and are keen to employ grads who have had a years experience within WB.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social aspect of this internship has been amazing. I’ve made many friends for life. You have to opportunity to live with other interns if you want which is great and give you loads of mates right away. We even all went on a big intern holiday to Crete at one point.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London is very expensive. The rent is incredibly high (between £600 and £800) and living cost are more than outside of London. However, it’s absolutely worth it – you get a salary at Warner Brother which is plenty to live a normal but not too extravagant lifestyle. You can also apply for student loan in your placement year which helps a lot.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in London is great and offers whatever you want, whenever you want it. Around the office there are loads of pubs/bars with varying prices. If you search out a Happy Hour you can drink for pretty cheap but you’ve got to be a bit savvy. London has so much to offer, make the most of it.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 4/5
