    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I began at Magpie working on an NHS internship then began to work for the company part time alongside my degree. I've loved every minute of my time so far at Magpie, I learn new things constantly and have the opportunity to develop skills in a friendly a professional environment.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I get extremely valued by my colleagues which I found surprising as many companies brush students off. I was invited to partake in important meetings and asked my opinion on key matters and have been heavily involved throughout my time so far. They often give us responsibility for key tasks leaving me feeling valued and an active part of the company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors have both been fantastic. They are constantly available be it by phone, email or even in person. I feel able to ask questions and I am constantly offered guidance when needed. It's great to have such a fantastic support system as we are often given a lot of responsibility. Magpie is a close knit company hence I've also received guidance from the directors of the company who have a genuine interest in helping me develop which I'm incredibly thankful for. Everyone at the company is so keen to help you which just motivates you to work harder.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had weekly responsibilities of collecting insight to share with the company usually under a certain theme. We were also heavily involved in campaigns hence the business of our schedule varied to reflect this but overall it was fun and exciting knowing your work counted for something.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Loads, we were responsible for important market research, helped plan and coordinate events and often worked at the heart of campaigns.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt more at Magpie this year about marketing than I did in my marketing degree so far.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel like everyone at the company wants to develop together. The firm invests in you for example training sessions were offered by 'Magpie University' where external speakers and employees share their knowledge to the group. We were also asked what skills we wanted to develop and mini training sessions were offered to us on our vision day.
