The Role
Lots of variety, got to travel within the UK and work in different sectors of the business, however the complexity of work and responsibility was sometimes lacking.
Felt very welcome and part of the team however don’t feel I had a lot of reasonability passed on to me.
Excellent line manager who offered a huge amount of professional and technical support to me and the rest of the team. All other colleges were always happy to help and spend time with me to explain things when required.
In the first half of placement my workload full of variety but the amount of work was relatively low, with the odd day or two per week with not much to do. Towards the back end of placement I had found a more consistent yet slightly repetitive role within the company.
Not much to begin with however by the middle of placement I was responsible for site visits and measurement on my own, carrying out audits in client offices on my own, and trusted to represent the business on a secondment whilst based in a clients office for several months.
Put most things into practice that I have previously learned at university, and going forward I can see that placement has helped to treat studies and assignments like a work project; to dedicate more time to my studies and focus on the end result as though I was delivering a piece of work for a client.
The Company
Very quiet most of the time but always friendly and relaxed.
Not much structure, more like an ordinary job. However good support and guidance around completing APC stuff with colleagues.
Secondment experience gained, all expenses paid Faithful+Gould ACP introduction day in London All RICS and APC fees paid for by the company Allowed to keep half day free per month to set up an APC workshop with colleagues Company paid for several RICS professional development training days
