    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Within just two weeks of working at GRB, I was able to touch on a vast range of tasks that the marketing team work on every day. From updating the social media sites, to writing articles and reports, each day was different. Having such a range of tasks to complete made the two weeks very enjoyable; there was no time to get bored! It was very rewarding to know that the work I had done for the company was valued. In addition to the actual tasks that I was given, the atmosphere within the company adds to the experience. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, you do not feel like an outsider despite the short amount of time you have been there.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The marketing team were appreciative for every piece of work that I completed for them. I felt as though all that I did was actually beneficial to the company; it was ultimately working towards promoting GRB. I was assigned jobs that needed to be completed as a part of their marketing strategies, no filing or photocopying!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • For each task that I was given, I was provided with a explanation of exactly what was needed to be done. There was always help available if I didn't understand something.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Ultimately, this experience gave me an insight into what it would be like to work within the marketing team of a company. I did not only learn office and marketing skills from this experience, but general working-environment skills too. This experience has been invaluable, and should hopefully help me when applying for a job after graduation.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was structured in that I was given a list of tasks to complete within the two weeks, to get on with at my own pace. If another job popped up that needed doing, then it was often passed on to me. There was never a day when I had nothing to do, they made sure to keep me busy!

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. I didn't feel like the office intern, I felt apart of the team. Everyone chats to you and offers you coffee! Although it feels relaxed in that nobody seems stressed, there is always a lot going on. It's quite a loud environment, but that's a good thing!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I would say that the company invested a fair amount, considering I was only there for two weeks. I was briefly shown the program they use during the recruitment process, and how to update the GRB website. I was also shown how to make the most out of social media sites.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This experience gave me a decent understanding of working full time within the marketing department. I worked full time hours and had plenty of work to do on each day. I never found myself sitting around waiting for things to do, it was very much like working full time.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I have completed this insight having a good understanding of what GRB is all about. During my time there, I was given the chance to experience what the recruiters do on a daily basis, and see just how hard these guys work to pick the right candidates for a job.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This experience has given me a true insight into a career within marketing, and has helped to finalise my decision that it is the sector that I hope to go into after graduation. GRB ensured to give me marketing-specific jobs, there were no boring office tasks!

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Considering I was only working at the company for two weeks, I thought the fact that I was paid was very generous, and the pay rate was very good as well. I would not expect the company to reimburse any travel expenses due to the short amount of time that I was there with them. I did this insight to gain valuable experience and develop skills to help me when getting a marketing job; I would not expect to be paid for this, it was a plus!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I was given the chance to shadow some of the recruiters in different departments. This allowed me to get to know more people within the company. The team is relatively small compared to other companies, which meant that it had a nice community-feel to it.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I found shadowing other departments within the company a fun experience. I was able to see what everyone else does for GRB, and allowed me to have an insight into what recruitment is all about. However, I do wish that I could have spent a bit more time with the other departments for further experience.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The friendly atmosphere and community-like environment meant that everyone was very close, almost like a family. I was aware of a weekly get together at a local pub.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would, without a doubt, recommend this experience to a friend. The good thing about this insight was that it wasn't too long, but it wasn't too short either. I had enough time to get a true understanding of what working in a marketing team is all about.
