  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My managers have always been very helpful and were mentoring me all the way through the placement. My supervisors were also very friendly and never felt out of reach. I was given a lot of training and one to one sessions which improved my technical skills.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was handed a project which took over the majority of my time. In addition, I was always seeking out smaller tasks which gave me an insight into other areas of the department. Having said that, there were times when I found myself without much to do which gave me the chance to read up on the company and the automotive industry in general.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a project which I picked up when it was no more than an idea. I was responsible to define the requirements and targets, produce the Simulink algorithm and test the final design in a vehicle. Through this process I had to organise meetings with a number of teams, present quarterly reports to the management team and work through a lot of problems as they came up. It was a very enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement was a tremendously helpful experience. Taking a break from my studies and getting involved in real life projects provided me with a new perspective towards work and the targets I set for myself.
