The Role
I want to return there as a graduate.
Quite, I think they appreciated my comments, but ultimately as they were all managers themselves they had a much better perspective on most situations.
Relatively, they tended to want to see if i'd get on with it myself
Varied greatly, at the start i would be doing relatively nothing and by christmas i left at 6 or 7 most evenings.
Alot towards the end, thats one of the best things they did, but still kept a close eye on me and the responsibility had to be earned
Learnt a great deal, but lacked a formal development scheme
The Company
Really interesting when everyone was in, but people tended to be out of the office or in meetings alot of the time
Well, they had everything planned in the induction, but left flexibility for you to become part of your team as it went on
Time and attention was brilliant, i got mentored by someone who became director while I was there, but lacked formal off site training schemes
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Very, now they've upped their graduate package.
The Culture
No, I think most of my years interns were lame. Kinda think thats the problem of being somewhere only for a year. I do think FT employees enjoy a better scene though and other year groups seem to have had more fun.
Expensive, all the South east commuter towns are though
Wicked, when people bothered to come out Reading was a fantastic
yeh, as in sports and social wise Microsoft is fantastic I played noon footie twice a week, Cricket and went to numerous work events all free of charge and actively encouraged by my manager
