  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like a valued and respected office member from day one and the other employees were quick to give me important work. I received valuable feedback which emphasised how my contributions were aiding both them and the firm generally.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Deloitte have a great support network to ensure you feel comfortable. The first weekend of the scheme was spent at a welcome event in Solihull, which was a great way to meet others also on the scheme from different regional offices, and to gain an insight into what to expect from the time on the scheme. I was assigned a "buddy" from my office who helped me every step of the way and was always happy to answer questions and help me settle in!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and information I have gained will definitely help in the partner interview at the scheme end, to hopefully gain a graduate position in the firm. I have learnt how to apply knowledge and think in a different way over 3 short weeks, which will undoubtedly be useful in my final year of my degree.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The scheme was extremely well structured. From the welcome meeting to the partner interview at the scheme end, I always knew what I was doing and what was expected of myself. I was given the opportunity to take control and effectively structure my own time here as my buddy consistently asked if there was anything I would particularly like to do/see in action. This meant I spent a few days in another local office and so gained a further insight into working life in the firm.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great- I was lucky in that the people I worked with were all extremely friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic people. I was invited on social events both in and outside of work hour,s which was a great way to build relationships with my colleagues. I never felt overwhelmed or that too much was expected of me and the continuous support was great at making sure I was working hard but comfortable at all times.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The welcome meeting was at a lovely hotel and we were given the opportunity to mix with employees of the local office at dinner, which was a great way to find out what to expect and develop our networking skills. There wasn't really time for any "investment," but we were all given a day of training on the first day of the scheme in our regional offices, which included an IT induction whereby we had the chance to use our laptops, given to us for the scheme duration, and an introduction to the service line.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • By the end of the scheme I felt like a valued member of the firm and essentially like I was a full time team member. I was able to gain an insight into how hard you have to work, but also how the support gained both from the firm and from other employees make this a rewarding and enjoyable job.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • In my experience I think the people here make this firms culture. Employees have a commitment to each other to and the overall firm culture is one of borderless collegiality. Working hard is possible to enjoy, provided you are surrounded by people you enjoy spending time with and respect each other.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It simply reaffirmed my choice of career path. Before my time here I had no idea what to expect but I can fully see myself as a full time employee at this firm, as I was treated as such during my scheme.

    3/5

  • Deloitte provide a very competitive rate and I was also assigned a "social budget" to ensure I was able to partake in all social occasions through no expense of my own.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes- I travelled to another local office and also received work from them. We also socialised with this office which was a great way to get to know more people.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Whilst I was not out every night, I attended a few social events and thoroughly enjoyed them. We also went out for lunch regularly on work days which was a great way to get to know each other.
