    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Everybody is really sociable and friendly. The Summer Scheme Students went for drinks together frequently. There was a programme of interesting things for the students to do, which allowed us to learn more about the various departments in Savills, learn more about the property industry and the market and meant that we all saw each other quite often. It was really interesting learning about the different teams within Savills and the general Savills culture.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It is always hard doing work experience or an internship, as you do not have all the training and knowledge required to do the job, so there is a limit to the amount you can do. When I did do a piece of work or helped them on the report they were writing etc, it was appreciated.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The HR team were great at keeping in touch and offering us support whenever we needed it. We had a mid-placement review as well as an end of placement appraisal. The team were always happy to answer any questions I had about the work, the projects and the industry (and I had a lot!)

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Because of the technical nature of the work my team does, there were times when there was not too much for me to do. I did however have a project to be getting on with for the duration of the internship, which meant I never had nothing to do. I would have liked to be out and about a little bit more, going on site visits etc, but I understand that my team don't need to do this that much. When there were site visits though, I went along.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work my team does it pretty technical which meant that everything I did had to be checked over before it properly got included in documents being sent to clients etc. However this did give me an opportunity to learn and to improve from feedback. Whilst the general concept of what the team does was pretty tricky to get my head around, the work I was given was quite straight forward and maybe not as challenging as it could have been.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I'm hoping the market and technical knowledge I have learnt here will stand me in good stead for my upcoming Masters degree!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Sometimes heads down and quiet but sometimes chatty and louder. Always friendly though.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The scheme itself was very well organised. I think the applicants would benefit from finding out if their applications were successful a little further in advance next time.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The internship itself is an investment and the talks and activities put on for us showed they were investing in us, trying to get us to love Savills like they do and teach us about various parts of the company.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work at Savills after this month. Hopefully I will be fast tracked to the assessment centre.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I organised drinks a couple of times with the fellow students, to which there was a good attendance. Everyone was really friendly and a good bunch of people!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Of course, London is expensive!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Can't say I sampled much of it, but there are busy pubs around!

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We had a social in Regent's Park where we had drinks and played softball. I went for lunch and drinks with my team frequently.
