Overview
The typical day consisted of carrying out tasks delegated to me by my mentor who worked in the team. It ranged from creating socioeconomic baselines to using mapping software to make market assessments. There were also many opportunities to hear from the different teams at Savills such as valuation and planning.
Skills
I was able to develop my Excel skills when working on the market assessment. My analysis skills were also greatly developed as I created a clear document which analysed census material.
Business Insight
It was very helpful as Savills has a vast amount of teams in the business. I was able to gain insights into various departments to get a feel about what each team does. It was also beneficial to see the potential pathways available at the company.
Culture
In my team, all the colleagues were extremely helpful and didn't mind taking time out of their day to give me some insight into their roles. The work carried out is very collaborative which fosters a communicative atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the insight as it gave me an opportunity to get hands on experience in the industry. It was also great to network with different Savills professionals and learn what their role in the company was.

Be open to trying different service lines and be enthusiastic to learn the different tasks that professionals in different departments do.
