    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Savills and I felt like it was the perfect insight to the corporate world and property industry.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues as I contributed to the production of loan security valuations, desktop valuations, inspections, analysis and providing high quality substantiation when it came to valuing properties on an investment basis.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given clear guidance as to what is expected from a valuation surveyor at Savills and that is to separate yourself from the competition and provide something none of them can.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy during my time at Savills as there was always something for me to be getting on with in the valuation team.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibility during my time at Savills as I was trusted with providing comparable evidence and substantiation for projects that would then be put straight into the valuation report that will be given to the client.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like this internship has provided me with an excellent insight to the corporate world and acted as the perfect motivation for me as I have had a taste of what I can have should I get the results I want at University in my final year. I also managed to meet the global CEO Jeremy Helsby and we conversed about the property market as a whole, the motivation of Chinese investors and also what profit margins and time boundaries-before making a profit that Savills aim for. This really stood out to me that Savills really do go to the extra mile when it comes to nurturing its staff and managing potential. Savills only employ the best people and they really do ensure the employees feel valued as I was informed in a presentation that Savills employees are what makes up the balance sheet.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office had an excellent atmosphere and the morale in the team was very high. This was due to such good relationships between employees which could be a result of good job satisfaction and office layout. The office is open plan with no singular offices, this reduces the formality of the office environment which enables people to relax more which could ensure they worked to the highest possible standard.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall internship was very well organised as i was in constant communication with the girls down at Margaret street. Naomi, Chelsey and Abby were all very helpful and polite when i had an enquiry that needed dealing with.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested its time in me and I felt like a valuable member of the team, I have since been offered the opportunity to go on an all expenses paid internship in Warsaw, Poland.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having worked at Savills for a month I have been able to understand what I want from my career in property and what I want to do within the sector. Whether or not there is a demand for this at Savills is a different question as I am very enthusiastic and passionate about Liverpool as a city and Savills only have a cost consultancy department in Liverpool. I feel that Liverpool has great potential as a city as it is known all around the world, more so than Manchester and Leeds yet it is lacking behind in the amount of private sector jobs offered to the people of the city. My ambition for my career is to enhance the marketability of Liverpool and to make the appeal stronger than that of Manchester for residential and commercial property and also for business in general.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was an excellent social scene as there was a strong intake of graduates last year that have a very close relationship with each other. I felt that this is a big advantage for Savills as it gives off the impression that they are looking to develop the potential of the next generation to the highest standard.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was expensive travelling to work as I don't live local. I had to pay near enough £200 for my train ticket which was a steep cost before i had started my Internship. The surrounding area wasn't any more expensive than Liverpool so there wasn't any surprises when going out for lunch with fellow employees/ clients.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was good i particularly enjoyed the Northern quarter and Spinningfields as they provided some good quality bars that all had friendly atmospheres and very good quality food and drink.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There weren't many opportunities for me to get involved in activities outside of work but the graduates and employees of Savills all have numerous social groups and activities they can take part in which are provided by Savills.
