    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time at Siemens, great company with lots of great people working for it.

  • I was always made to feel valued and was treated just like any employee is treated and not made to feel like an intern.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was lucky enough to be part of a really good team with lots of support. My manager was fantastic at providing guidance.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My workload was varied throughout my year. Sometimes I could be non stop and other times I could be without much to do. However you can make enough work for yourself as there is always something to get involved if you want to.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Once I had earned the trust of my colleagues and shown I was capable, I took on some important tasks which I was responsible for looking after.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I undertook a training programme for interns which I found really useful. Other than that the skills I have developed during my year will certainly put me in good stead for a graduate role.

  • The atmosphere was always good, friendly.

  • Overall it was a good placement year.

  • My manager was keen to know what I wanted to get out of my placement and was willing to help me develop.

  • Employment prospects are good with Siemens. They are keen to invest in graduates who have already undergone an internship with Siemens. They invest a lot into their graduates.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yeah there was always a social event going on, you can get as involved as you want.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It is fairly expensive in surrey.

  • Poor locally, surrounding areas are good.

  • Yes lots of opportunities to get involved in CSR events or represent Siemens.
