    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My daily tasks include attending regular scheduled meetings with different departments for updates i.e, the comms team. Looking at the DEI calendar of events to see what days are upcoming that our Employee Networks might want to focus on and create resources for e.g., International Women in Engineering Day meeting with the Women's Network to discuss what resources we can create/share both internally and externally. Creating content. Editing the website. Editing internal SharePoints Creating/uploading resources to our internal learning platform. Promoting upcoming activities and creating promotional materials to do so. Organising and facilitating events e.g., The Manchester Pride Parade.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I have developed my communication skills both online and in-person as well as digitally. I have learnt tons of new skills including facilitation, events organisation, relationship building, prioritisation and organisational etc.,

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, way more than I expected. The support was there if I needed it but I got involved in projects and initiatives and often spearheaded them off my own back. I was able to create and run projects that I found to be beneficial for both myself and the business and once given the go-ahead, had free reign of what those projects looked like.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
  • 5/5

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • As much as I wanted or needed. I would experience periods e.g., at the very beginning of my placement, when I needed extra support with working an excel, or adhering to employer branding and upon asking my manager or any other relevant persons, support is always offered and given- as little or as much as necessary.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 5/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was completely different from what I expected. From what I thought was an old, German manufacturing company is actually a very inclusive, innovative and encouraging tech company. There is a large population of early careers professionals from placement year students (interns), to grads and apprentices and people that have recently left early careers schemes, and a community that has been created specifically for ECP's to learn, socialise and thrive both personally and professionally. The working culture is quite flexible with even people at senior level working flexibly and casually.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the social opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the diversity initiatives?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the charity, sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives?

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Very much. I wouldn't have wanted to experience anything else.

  • Please rate the future employment prospects at Siemens
  • 4/5

  • 7. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Siemens
  • Be yourself. Hiring managers value commitment and passion over experience and qualification (certain exceptions with technical roles).
