  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Although I was able to take on tasks for myself and complete them to the required expectations of peers and management. I still modelled my experience on my line manager and aspired to become as confident and as skillful as he is. I learned a great deal from him and there where several opportunities where by he advised me to seek development to enable me to improve.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the opportunity to oversee the work taken on by other students, giving me an insight into managing people, at the time the main full time staff members was my line manager and myself, therefore there were often periods that I had to take responsibility and manage myself and my tasks so that the department could maintain projects and achieve targets. With regards to the sexual health campaign "Love is Infectious" I managed the marketing activity and arranged promotional materials, social media accounts and was also involved in some local news coverage and photographs.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although noones career or personal development is never completed, I feel that the skills I have aquired on placement has shaped my whole approach to my working life. I trained in a range of areas and was exposed to raw public relations, this enviroment highlighted the career I wish to follow , I have found my passion in life. Having now returned to university, I have much more understanding through aquired knowledge , increased respect for my lecturers and tutors and a much more determined and focused attitude and approach to development.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Sexual Health to Prison Healthcare, the atmosphere was never dull, quite the opposite, through times of increased workload our team was remained motivated and positive.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the process was great, however in future a possible area for improvement for candidates would be to incorporate a team building exercises, this would increase communication between the team members and give the intern the opportunity to display their personality and get to know the members of the team fully. I was lucky , getting my job straight from the end of level 2 teaching and therefore I was able to put the learning into practice, however team building exercises and getting to know the organisation helped me to understand how all the services fitted together.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I recieved quite a lot of training opportunities, however one particular session I wanted to experience was presenting with style this unfortunately had to be cancelled due to adverse weather, andI was unable to reschedule. Every other area, I suggested for development was identified and I was given material to read and evaluate or I was recommended certain techniques to improve.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The city is great for socialising, one particular social event meant one of our clients treated my line manager and myself to a summer evening event at the races , which i thouroughly enjoyed.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Occasionally ...The national health service offers a range of querky activites through their wide partnerships, these ranged from the more extreme experiences such as SCUBA diving lessons or even indian head massages and alternative complimentary therapies like yoga, health and well being events and team marathons, I completed a 5k for my team and for a girl whos staple wardrobe is stilettos and only exercise is running round the shops this was a big achievement for me. I was proud that the sponsor design of our organisations team running T-shirts displayed the Love is Infectious logo, this inspired me more !
