About You
Having not studied an accredited degree I was somewhat concerned that my background would not suit the insight week, however, this proved to be wrong as I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My interest in exploring a new career option was encouraged by various staff members and I was free to ask any questions I had. I especially found the opportunity to learn from senior members of staff via informal networking events very valuable as I was able to ask questions and receive an honest response.
Very Valued, every staff member gave up their time to help me understand what the work was like on a day to day basis. I got lost during my time on the insight scheme, yet staff were very friendly and welcoming when asking for help. The work i was given i felt meant something, i was never asked to do stereotypical work, such as make tea or photocopy. Having previous experience of doing this, it was very much appreciated.
I was able to chat to staff who were not in the section I was in, they also gave up their time to explain their work to me. I emailed a staff member after listening to his presentation, he helped me understand his working day and the qualifications i needed to develop further.
My degree was not an accredited degree, so very little - but that was the point of the scheme. To expose me to something new. I did show me what qualifications i need to do in the future if i wish to pursue this path.
The Company
There was a very detailed and clear program of events organised. I was aware of where I had to be at a certain time. Not all the activities were compulsory, so i only had to go to ones i wanted - however, i did go to them all.
All the fellow insight students were friendly and you could tell the type of person they like to recruit. The atmosphere was informal and there was very little hierarchy. The open plan office allowed lots of light into the working environment, and made the placement feel welcoming.
Various activities were on offer for me to further develop myself.
I was given meaningful work which was varied. I had insight talks from various members of staff in different departments to understand what the whole company did.
I understood what it meant to work for Savills and how i should present myself to clients should i be given the responsibility in the future.
Sometimes i felt the tasks i was given could have been slightly more varied.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses of £100 or under
Yes, about four opportunities. Varying from coffee events to going to a local bar.
Informal and numerous, there was always someone to ask any questions i had.
Yes, they were mentioned in the various presentations i attended and through asking staff directly.
