    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Extremely enjoyed the insight! It was extremely interactive, after each presentation on a certain division we would then be able to participate in a team challenge/game which made it much more interesting and you get an extremely good understanding of the basics involved in the job role. I learnt so much within just one week and the participants/UBS employees were all extremely friendly and welcoming.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt valued as I knew that I could approach the recruitment team if I had any questions. Also the UBS employees paid a lot of attention to your opinions or questions and during the work shadowing, they really took time to try to explain and help you understand exactly what they do.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were numerous occasions where you were able to ask questions the analysts to receive guidance and advice. Also a few of the other candidates needed help regarding changing the division they wanted to have their assessment centre in (on the friday), and they were helped by HR to see if they could, and if not then were given the option to apply for the other division in autumn.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

I also definitely developed my teamwork skills through the various team challenges and presentation that we completed throughout the week which will help in my degree studies and future career.

  • The majority of participants were extremely friendly and a lot of fun to work with. Also without a doubt, every UBS employee that I met throughout the week was extremely helpful and welcoming which was really encouraging. • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was clear that a lot of time and effort had been put into the programme by Charlotte and other members of the recruitment team. There were activities which helped us to practice giving a presentation which helped with developing our teamwork and communication skills. The division presentations and specifically work shadowing really helped to develop our knowledge of the industry and specific job roles within each division. Also a lot of time was invested in helping us for the assessment centre on the friday.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It helped very much so. As mentioned before, there were presentations/Q&A/Workshops on each division where we were given so much information and a taster of what would be involved in the job roles. Also the work shadowing was extremely helpful - I saw exactly what it would be like to work in the job role I shadowed, and the intricate products that were being traded were explained very clearly.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There is a pre conception of investment banks being very aggressive and ruthless. However at UBS I was able to speak to many analysts across different divisions, and every single one of them was very genuine and welcoming. The culture at UBS was definitely portrayed, and it attracted me to really want to gain a summer internship at the firm.
