    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed it very much. It benefitted me greatly as I was introduced to Deloitte's main service lines through presentations and many case studies. However, the rigour of the program (ie back to back case studies) was useful as it allowed us to reap alot of knowledge within the limited amount of time. The people I met (peers and professionals alike) were very friendly as well.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like I was given a choice as to what kind of career Deloitte could offer me instead of what I felt I could offer deloitte. I felt valued according to my skills and the insight allowed me to discover what I was more inclined towards in terms of my personality and my strengths. The people at deloitte tried their best to answer the queries we had regarding almost anything which made me feel like I mattered.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There were many professionals that came down to answer our questions and participate in the case studies. It is important that you take the initiative to ask questions in order to maximise the learning opportunity. There were mock interviews where you could ask Deloitte's interviewers questions and clarify what you were unsure of. Deloitte gave me the impression that they wanted each individual to succeed and I could tell that they tried their best to give us as much feedback and guidance as they could.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The numerous case studies taught me the importance of communicating effectively in a team and how you listen to other as well. The presentations about the different service lines offered gave me the insight not just into the company but into the industry as a whole. It certainly equipped me well for interviews by teaching my interview skills and techniques. I would say that the knowledge I received from the insight has increased my confidence to secure an internship in the industry.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was a timetable however certain sessions overran and would get a little long. The first day was especially tiring but the 2nd day ended earlier than expected. However, they gave us a timetable at the start of the insight so we knew what to expect.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Typically insight days would be intimidating and it was initially but it soon disappeared as people were friendly and tried their best to engage and answer your questions. They weren't taking notes to see how well you worked in a team or anything like that so it was generally relaxed and I didn't have the impression that I was being heavily scrutinised.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The duration of the insight was short and I would have liked it to be longer so that I could network with the relevant people. However time was really maximised and I learnt alot from the short period of time.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • They described a day in life in Audit, Tax, Risk Advisory and Consulting but didn't really touch the Corporate Finance Advisory which I would have really liked to hear.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • During the networking dinner it was a sit down event and we didn't really have the opportunity to talk to the people outside the dinner table (I had someone from Audit) which was a pity because I very much wanted to talk to someone in consulting. However, during the sessions I managed to find the opportunity to talking to on of the guys working in Consulting. Nevertheless the lady sitting with me at the dinner table was very chatty and talked alot about the social aspect of Deloitte.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very insightful, and the presenter for each service line told us what they were looking out for and what attracted them to the job. It was easy to fit my personality and strengths into which service line they offered.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We could claim up to 50 pounds in travel expenditure

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, however as mentioned, it was limited and one really needs to take the initiative to go up to the associates and managers to ask questions.

    4/5

  • It was very much focused on the social aspect of working life whereas i wanted to hear about the work they did more.

    4/5
