Spring into Deloitte Participant Review

I enjoyed the insight much more than anticipated. In the build up to the event there was'nt much correspondence from Deloitte so I didnt really know what to expect however the two days proved very insightful and gave me a much better understanding about Deloitte as a company as well as the different areas within a professional services firm.

I felt very valued at my time with Deloitte. Although I was only there a short period of time, they showed what a good company they are and how much they value their employees. They provided a good lunch on both days, a hotel for the night between the days as well as a 3 course meal on the evening between the days.

As stated earlier I felt the correspondence before the event was lacking and an email or two giving a little more information about what we would be participating in would have been nice however whilst at the Deloitte offices all the staff were very open to receiving questions and answered extensively to any queries that we had.

As it was only a 2 day insight I would say that it may not necessarily be that helpful to my degree studies however as far as future careers, the insight could be very helpful. On the second day of the insight we had a mock interview that would prepare us for the interviews for summer internships. This was very helpful and I would say one of the best parts about the insight. I believe having this Insight opportunity on my CV will be very helpful and as participating in it has fast tracked me towards a summer internship with Deloitte, I hope that I will be returning to Deloitte next summer for a placement with them.

The two days were very well put together. On the first day they gave an outline of what we would be doing and expected start and finish times and this was stuck to entirely. This was good as it meant we covered all the areas possible and I felt there was very little if not any time wasted during the two days.

Very friendly. Everyone that was there was willing to socialise and I felt at ease with everyone I spoke to, both students and staff included. The second day especially was very relaxed and it felt like id been at the company for months rather than a day.

After the event finished, from what I could gather most people were going to apply for the summer internship and had much more of an idea of the area of work they were looking to go into. So as far as investing for possible future employees, it was definitely worthwhile for them to hold the event.

They gave a presentation for the areas of Audit, Tax, Audit Advisory and Consulting as well as a business game for each. I found the presentations and games very helpful in knowing what it would be like to work there as beforehand I wasnt really sure of the actual day to day tasks each area did however the insight gave me a much better knowledge.

As we had the networking dinner on the first day it really showed what the staff of the company were like both in the office and out of it. The staff seemed really enthusiastic about the working culture of the company as well as all the non-work events they had such as helping charities and what societies they have to offer.

Very helpful. The presentations gave lots of knowledge of each area and as we were given a copy of the slides, I will use these in the future to decide which area of professional services I will apply into. I also believe I will rank Deloitte as one of my top choices for a place to work as I felt the atmosphere of the company was very good.

We were reimbursed for up to £50 of travel expenses as well as provided with lunch on both days and a hotel room, breakfast and 3 course meal in the middle of the two days.

Throughout both days we were encouraged to ask any questions to any staff member and all staff answered well and thoroughly. On the evening of the first day the dinner provided a chance to talk to current staff, partners and people that worked in recruitment which was helpful.

Very relaxing and informative, Having people from different areas and points in their careers was good as it gave a chance to hear a variety of viewpoints.

In the presentations they informed us of the charity work the company participates in and also informed us of the socialising aspects of being a deloitte staff member such as the variety of training the staff go through across the country and also the different societies Deloitte has.

Definitely, the two days gave a really good insight into the professional services industry as a whole as well as what Deloitte as a company had to offer. Both days were filled to the maximum and Deloitte included everything that they could have possibly done.
