    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The Spring Programme at Deloitte truly gave an insight into the company that I could not have been found elsewhere. Deloitte's staff were so friendly and personable throughout which really made us feel relaxed and welcomed.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As hosts I can not fault Deloitte. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. The accommodation was far beyond expectations and so many members of staff gave up their time to talk to us, not just throughout the day but also at the evening meal. On top of this, everyone working there seemed to go above and beyond. The staff who gave presentations and ran activities for us were all willing to give out emails and have an open door policy to us.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The whole experience was about guiding us through how there company functioned and to support us in deciding where we would fit in so the support and guidance level was very high. Within the activities they gave us hints and guided us in the right direction at times but also allowed us to come up with our own solutions and answers as well.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Within my degree the skills probably won't greatly help me but it was not geared to this. But having such a greater understanding of the Professional Service will help me so much with applications and interviews as well as improving my general knowledge.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I can not fault the organisation behind the Insight Day. There were well timed breaks throughout the day, lunch, accommodation as well as pre booked taxis to and from the accommodation. All the speakers understood their brief and, therefore, were able to provided really useful sessions. It was genuinely really slick and thought out.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was so friendly, from the staff to the other participants. The sessions were filled with fun group activities and this kept the atmosphere very collegiate and upbeat.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This was a development programme so this was an investing in us so that hopefully we will continue on to their summer scheme. From here, we have the opportunity to interview for the Summer Scheme prior to the Summer scheme opening to other applicants. All the staff mentioned how Deloitte's is very pro training and is very keen to providing you with the training you feel is necessary as well as the mandatory professional exams.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The different service lines ran activities (most of the simulator type activities) which were aimed at improving our understanding of what they do day to day and also to persuade us that their line was clearly the best! The social life at Deloitte, St Albans was highly praised as well by all those to whom I spoke.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As mentioned above, the social life was well documented which I think demonstrates the culture which is to take care of its staff because they truly are key to he Professional Service industry. This shone through in the staff we met because they were all genuinely upbeat and joking around when presenting to us. The culture in the St Albans office was heavily based on team work and being so small there was said to be no room for anyone who would be self-centred.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It heavily persuaded me to join their summer vacation scheme with a focus on joining the graduate scheme.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were reimbursed up to £50 for travel expenses which were reasonable.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The staff (apart form a few with very pressing deadlines) had an open door policy for us to speak to them in person or email them. On top of this, the evening dinner on the first night was a networking dinner as well.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunities, were opportunities to further speak to those who had been leading the event as well as some of those leading activities outside of the office as well as to chat with those on the programme with us.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are loads of socials apparently, sports teams, trips to do things like climb Kilimanjaro, as well as societies like WIne Society.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Before I went I was slightly skeptical about how good the event would be but now I would say definitely !!
