    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working in Assurance isn't always the most interesting, but the good bits of the job far outweigh the boring bits. I have had an incredibly interesting, educational and fun time and will be happy to return once Uni is finished

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • you are treated exactly the same as a graduate joiner. I had significant responsibility during my placement, and never went wanting for work to do. You are working on real audits of real clients, and your work really does add value

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • You are assigned a buddy and a Champion to support you, however that is just the formal support you receive. Everyone I have worked with has been friendly and willing to answer questions

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • you are always encouraged to manage your time properly to ensure you aren't working all the time! It is also worth noting that when things are less busy there is the opportunity help others with their work and stay busy,

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility, working on real world clients and on projects that make a big difference in the world of business.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • When you join Deloitte in Audit you will start studying towards your ACA qualification. This is made up of 15 exams taken over 3 years, This is the part of study where I will develop my skills much further

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in a regional office, which had a really good friendly atmosphere. There are non-stop social events organised throughout the placement, from sports, to quizzes to drinks nights

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Being a global company it is hardly suprising that this was a very well run/ well organised placement

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • you have a significant amount of training when you first join, to prepare you for the world of audit, and you have internet based learning to complete periodically

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Financial Bonus

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Been offered a graduate job for when I finish Uni next year. My understanding is that it is expected that you will be offered a graduate job - afterall you do go through the same recruitment process as a graduate joiner

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I joined in a cohort of 5 other local people in my office. These were not all from Assurance, some were from Tax, also. There is an excellent social scene among your year group, as well as with other year groups too.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lived at home so was negligible!
