The Role
Really good experience. Work was challenging but received a lot of support. My supper placement allowed me to further explore the company and various divisions that exist within it.
I was showed on a daily basis how my work would be used.
centrica provides an excellent support structure during the summer placement.
Really up to yourself to take on as much as you can handle.
You would need to be realistic about how much responsibility a multi national company can give especially someone without any real qualifications. But my work did carry responsibility.
Skills for life indeed. Allowed me to experience a real engineering working enviroment. Do real engineering work. really helped for coming back to uni and went on various courses which will no doubt help for the future
The Company
Good atmosphere. Be prepared to get involved thuogh! up to you to join up and sign up.
Goood enough. Had no real problems although during application period I felt a bit confused about timescale of stages.
Again, be realistic how much a company can give you in 10 weeks. but remarkable amount of investment thinking that they have no guarantee you will come back
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The placement will allow you to get to know centrica and see if they can provide you with a possible future carreer.
The Culture
I found my scocial with graduates and there were few summer placement students where I was at. If you are placed as an engineer in centrica you could be shipped of to any part of the country and whether you have a good social will be a bit up to chance. But, concidering the point of the placement this is minor.
Not bad... accommodation was paid for so really cant complain
Mmm... Alright... But again think about why you are doing the placement.
5 a side... gym with the guys.... the odd trip out.
