    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed it and gained a huge amount of knowledge for my final year in University.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was never asked to make tea or photocopy. Every task given to me was different and taught me a knew skill.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always able to ask questions and always got a helpful response. The team took time to sit down and explain things to me.

  • There was a lot of work going around the office and I always had things to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was tasked with writing reports, doing calculations and talking to external organisations to get information.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They have helped hugely! I would be lost without these placements and would have struggled a great deal with some of my units. These placements should be compulsory for everyone.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a bustling office with a great sense of humour. Everyone was very relaxed and open to questions. I never felt uncomfortable. I was always included in any after work events.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was thoroughly impressed and appreciative of the flexibility given to me when setting up my placement. I had my placement organised by the christmas before.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given a full induction and health and safety training. I was provided with full PPE for me to keep and use on my site visits.

  • I would love to work with the company and have applied for the graduate scheme.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I didn't really get to socialise with any other placement students other than my university friends in other offices.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live in Cardiff where I undertook my placement so the cost of living was negligible.

  • Cardiff has a great night life and I was constantly invited to go on post work pub trips.
