Audit Associate - SVS Review

It was a very pleasing experience. Being able to work with real clients in their offices, gave me the actual experience of an auditor. Not all clients are the same, some being difficult to work with. With difficult clients you have show how you can continue to work with in a professional manner.These experiences I faced, allowed me to understand that audit was the career for me. So, when you go to the internship, you will also see if you can see yourself working in this industry for the long term.

Within Deloitte they want colleagues to carpool to clients, as this saves on individual expenses. But doesn't every company aim to saves costs. The carpooling with colleagues to client sites ( some journey were 2HR LONG!) was the best part. As, you could really talk to the colleagues gain he or she's feedback from he or she's experiences and they can give you the heads up of what to expect for the future years. But overall, each colleagues for all my clients are worked with were a really nice and enjoyable people to work with.

I would definitely say Assistant Managers and Mangers are always willing to help and explain matters when you ask. They are extremely friendly and very easy to approach to, this added to great experience of working there. However, as you may see the rating is only 8 stars. This is because younger associates, mainly who were still learning as well didn't really give full support and guidance. But that is not a negative point as you need understand from their point of view as well, they have to complete an audit before a set deadline ( and some deadlines were pretty close).

There were times were work fell short, and constantly asking work felt obnoxious, even how good it does sound constantly asking for work. Given that as an intern their is a level of work I can do, but most work required more in depth knowledge or were for the managers to complete by them self (i.e. writing reports)

I completed various testing for the audit of clients. But something that got me motivated was being part of report given to partner. I did talk to clients, and banks (requesting information). Also responding to questions by Senior Managers and Partners in the audit testing files.

Gave me a well rounded knowledge and understanding of audit and the accounting industry. This skills gained and the knowledge learnt would defiantly benefit in my accounting and audit modules in my final year of university.

Very calm and friendly environment. Everyone is willing to talk to you and tell you about their experiences, which really adds to the friendly environment.

Everything was perfectly organised. If you were confused or did not understand any process of the internship the the manager or HR would resolve your matter in no time. Overall, everything was planned and organised, you will never feel something is out of place.

Well, they can't actually invest in you as in intern. But they did invest in terms teaching us the Deloitte audit software and their methodology of audit, which is unique. They also gave us 2 day induction about life and working with Deloitte, this event was Birmingham, so we all stayed in a fancy 5 star hotel (which was amazing!).

Working in Deloitte will make you stand out from the crowd. They will support you in obtaining the ACA if you go on to the graduate programme. I was lucky enough to get offered a graduate position after I had partner interview.

Given that we all went to different client around the UK and we lived in different places, so it was actually really difficult for us to go out for socialising outside of work. However Deloitte made sure we took time off 2 separate days so we can have a social event with our colleagues and the current associates. This was an really amazing experience, we went to the various exciting places, with all expenses paid by Deloitte.

I lived at home, so it was free. But the area was not too expensive to reside in.

Within 3 weeks, you aim is to obtain maximum experience and knowledge you can from working in Deloitte, but that was my aim. In my period there was no event going on, so could not actually be involved in any event. But I did hear a lot of activities are going to happen in September.
