  • I was made to feel part of the team from day one.

  • My line manager was very supportive, and would go out of her way to help me with my studies.

  • I was given lots of responsibility!

  • The skills I have gained during this placement are priceless - I have been given an insight into every aspect of a HR department.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was based in the recruitment office with just one other, however we worked very closely with the operational HR team. Everyone had fun while they were working, and it was a good general atmosphere.

  • There was no structured timetable for my placement, however my manager made it very clear what I needed to be doing.

  • I could have applied for any internal training courses.

  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

  • I would definitely come back. I am pretty sure they would have me back if the right job came up.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were no other placement students, but there were plenty of younger memebers of staff in the department that loved to socialise.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • In slough the cost of living is quite high, but you do get a high cost of living allowance added on to your salary.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Hmm the nightlife in slough itself is pretty bad! There are plenty of great places to go in the surrounding areas.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are lots of sports clubs etc in the area. If you are new to the area the staff in this department would be happy to show you around!
