    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The Summer Scheme was really excellently organised. There was a good mix of working within the department you were assigned to and organised events for interns - both to socialise and learn more about Savills as a company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The staff at Savills are all very friendly and were positive towards Interns. Don't go in expecting to get applauded for every small task you complete, but I did feel genuinely valued - especially considering I was only there for a month. My department also took me out for drinks and lunches which was nice and a good opportunity to get to know them better.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was a great deal of guidance and support from the grad recruitment team. There was a good amount of structure and information provided, if you needed any extra advice they were more than happy to help. In my department the guidance and support was good, sometimes had to seek this but it was fine. I understand speaking to other interns that this varied a bit.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days would be very busy others would be a bit dead. The organised events and an ongoing project we were given helped to make sure you always had something to do - which was good. Again this is something that varied from department to department - some fellow interns were rushed off their feet while others were twiddling their thumbs a bit.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Once I had proved myself a bit I felt I was given real responsibility - organising things with clients over the phone, being the main point of contact for some tasks. At the end of the placement I felt much more confident in myself as a result,

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Coming from a non property background and studying a property Masters next year the Summer Scheme has given me some great real world experience that will help me with my studies, Beyond this it has been a great insight into the property industry and I feel much more confident in pursuing a career in this now.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my department was friendly and nice, but perhaps nothing to write home about.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was great communication throughout and things were very well planned.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Time was spent educating interns on what RICS and RTPI accreditation entails.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I plan on applying for the grad scheme, this was strongly influenced by my experiences on the Summer Scheme.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was good and people made an effort to meet up after work as well as attend the planned events. It may depend on the type of people your intake has - if nobody else is planning anything then be bold and send an email out!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is very expensive.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London night-life has a lot to offer, as one would expect.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Events were organised for interns outside of work. The staff also do sporting activities etc which I was invited to.
