  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Highly interesting work, allowing you to get involved with clients straight away. Lots of intern scheme events to help you get to know colleagues and the firm.

  • Particularly by my sub-team within the whole project team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers, buddies and intern scheme organisers were all happy to make time for chats, and reply to email questions.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Days varied with the ebb an flow of project work - across the 5 weeks the balance was good (and probably reflective of graduate life).

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was able to contribute to papers going to senior client staff, and completely responsible for the production of some documents for use by the project team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like I gained a really good insight into the organisation and content of consultancy work, which will definitely be useful for my future career. I received constructive feedback about my performance as well.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was in a large team of both Deloitte and client employees, so there was plenty of chat and many people to meet. According to other interns this definitely varies across projects though.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisers did pretty well given the nature of consultancy work and how busy they are, and events organised always ran well.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a 2 day induction which went over some key skills and approaches to consulting, and feedback was given for performance on project and for presentations we gave.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I've really enjoyed my internship and am very keen to secure a graduate place (interns can have partner interviews at the end of the scheme for this).

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Some events were centrally organised by the intern scheme(meals and drinks) and we also organised some things ourselves.

  • Typical London prices.

  • Pretty good near the central offices, though we moved throughout London anyway.

  • This was something you had to particularly pursue yourself, through your team, or contacting people from the intranet.
