    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • you're given 3 2 week rotations into the 3 different departments which was great and definitely a good decision by the company. you're given that basis and then you need to make the most of it time wise and meeting the right people if you want shadow days/coffee. Those who didn't go to any of the events didn't seem to enjoy it as much as they couldn't move departments or meet up with people to make it better.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt useful rather than just being there because I was placed there. They saw me as on the same level as a graduate and I wasn't backed out by any of them. was invited to all events after work with them and really felt part of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support was there in abundance, you just had to reach out for it. Make use of the buddy system and the numerous SVS 'champions' who organised my placement.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It changed with every 2 week rotation, but I was never overly stressed with work and usually got off at normal time (5.30/6) you had to let the managers know if you'd finished and needed more rather than constantly being given work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility were lot more than i expected to have!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely, little things you dont think are useful when in fact they help you in so many situations (im specifically thinking of excel, powerpoint, visio, qlickview skills and shortcuts that i've learnt)

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was out of the office for 4 of the 6 weeks which was very different atmosphere out on client sites and totally depends on the client. Loved being in the office in the last 2 weeks, the deloitte people do really make this company

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Got so many, almost too many emails before I started from Grad recruitment. Knew who my buddy was before I started and was in contact with him before. Knew who my champion was in advance and the timetable of induction. Got my client timetable first day I was there (very overwhelming!)

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My buddy sent me a lot of excel tutorials before I started, Manager noticed I enjoyed design and sent me extra tutorials and information. was given qlickview tutorial in advance so I wouldn't be behind

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Chances are high, the 6 weeks finish with a grad scheme interview!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I got lucky with the other interns, tho due to different internship lengths in different department it came and went dependent on timings. Real work hard play hard ethos.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London, so just ridiculously expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London, so a lot of choices!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Even as an intern you are on the general mailing list for the department so you heard about everything that was going on, even if the events were happening after you finished your placement.
