    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My internship role was incredibly varied, offering me insight into the whole scale of operations of the business, as such there were aspects of the job that i enjoyed and some aspects that i didn't enjoy as much but all aspects were required by the business. The opportunity for enjoyable project work far outbalanced any of the non-enjoyable aspects of my daily role.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Highly valued, particularly towards the presentation and report out section of the year, everyone within the business wanted us to succeed, it was a great support.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The Eaton internship scheme gives each intern 2 lines of management, one functional line manager and one internship manager (Graduate Programme Manager). There are set monthly and quarterly reviews that give both feedback from management as well as giving you an opportunity to ask for changes to be made. A fantastic system for support and guidance as well as allowing to track development.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy on a day to day basis, there was always a new challenge. I like to keep busy so this suited me well.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility during my placement, from redesigning the production shop floor to scheduling 6 figure orders, I would never expect the amount of responsibility i had on my placement.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills i have learned over the past year have far outweighed what i could learn in a lecture theatre, i believe they can only assist me going forward. This last year has also developed me personally and i feel i now fit into a business environment well and can see a path for my future.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office and production environment was filled with people who i could get on with well and have a chat or a joke with, however, there was also the balance that it is a working environment full of busy people!

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I cannot compliment highly enough the organisation of the scheme itself. From structured monthly training to the reviews and buddy system, this is a fantastically well thought out and developed scheme.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company had a fantastic scheme to develop both functional and personal skills. For example there were training events on Professional Development Skills, Communication Skills, Presentation Skills and more.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Currently waiting to find out whether i have been offered a place on the leadership programme graduate scheme, this is something i would like to return to having spent the past year with the company.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All interns throughout the country met roughly on a monthly basis, there were also multiple interns based on each site that the company put us in touch with prior to start, this meant we could live together (if chosen) and really structure our social lives by our own accord.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very good value for money

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I was based in Doncaster, so not the best but a short journey into Sheffield (and even only 1h30 on the train to London) meant that my weekend's were always jam packed!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I was still involved with a few activities at University and managed to balance it with work well

    4/5
