  • I was allowed to work under my own steam, however I had constant contact with my manager and peers so that I could receive assistance whenever it was required.

  • I was given personal ownership of several different projects as part of my placement.

  • I developed a lot of project management skills which I now use regularly and which were of huge help during my final year project.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In my time at Flowserve I had the opportunity to develop my CAD skills, I became familiar with use of laboratory equipment and became familiar with a number of different computer programs including FEA packages and the ERP system SAP.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I enjoyed my placement year with Flowserve. I learnt a lot of valuable skills and they provided me with a topic for my final year project which allowed me to come in and work for them during my final year. This gave me the opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge and skills of colleagues here, provided me with a project which was relevant to industry and also kept me on the payroll so I was paid for doing my university work :D
