The Role
The Flowserve internship has given me great confidence in future employment within the Mechanical Engineering industry, I feel a lot more confident in myself as a professional and look forward to my future career, I enjoyed the placement overall.
Working alongside senior and chartered engineers can be challenging as they are superior in the way of knowledge, but I felt appreciated that I was learning swiftly and putting effort into every task.
Support was mostly available when required, however sometimes it is necessary to tackle things yourself.
Jobs were generally always available, whether they are long term project based on a small 'few-hours' jobs. I have always had some background projects that were to be kept on top of.
As a global company with a prestigious reputation, it's important to understand that delegating tasks that have a high responsibility to an intern is difficult, particularly as interns have little experience within the industry. However more towards the end I was making decisions for myself that required extensive knowledge of the product range, customer specifications and design limitations.
Without fail.
The Company
Mostly professional, but banter here and there, an ideal environment to learn and progress in your work
Introduction was unorganized but there had just been a change in management which explained that. Otherwise your a member of the team so was perfect.
Attended a two day 3D modelling cause using Autodesk package which I will always carry with me, the senior team are happy to share knowledge with you and open you up to the industry
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
This will be something I will look into within the future after university.
The Culture
Yes, we go go-karting regularly and dinner every few months :)
Haywards Heath is same pricing at Brighton + Hove, so quite pricey, but a really nice area. Socializing just standard pricing.
No. Just no.
Gym complex at the end of the road had many opportunities.
