    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed every minute of my placement here at Microsoft. The job role has developed throughout the year and I have been challenged with the work I have been given. I have been given so many opportunities throughout the year to develop my skill set and I am very sad to leave this role!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everybody I have worked with is very helpful and keen to help me learn. The team that I work in has welcomed me from day one and they all appreciate the work that I have done over the last year. You are able to network with people all over the company and people are always willing to meet up to talk about their job and experiences.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The managers that I had were always very approachable and liked to present me with challenges so that I pushed myself. If I ever had an issue or a situation I did not know how to approach I could always ask my manager or fellow colleagues for help and advice.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Microsoft are very keen to promote a healthy work life balance. You will always get asked to do a lot of things however people understand that you cannot always complete tasks straight away so as long as you set their expectations when you will complete the work this is fine. Once I had settled into the team I was allowed to work from home if I needed to.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility running an internal project of my own and organising team meetings for up to 50 people.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like I have developed so many skills and knowledge over the last year and this will help me in my final year of university and when I come to apply for graduate roles.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It is a very proffessional environment however I got on really well with everybody in the office and we had a lot of laughs over the year. We all tried to make the effort to catch up over coffees or go to lunch together.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised and set up to make the most of the year.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They put me for my Certified Associate Project Management exam which is a great qualification to get. I was able to attend a lot of the team training sessions and internal trainings. They all helped me throughout the year. I was always pushed to try and develop my skills in a lot of areas.
