    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My team was great, made working a great experience. Work wasn't always fun but usually stimulating and always a HUGE learning experience.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was regularly congratulated or thanked for doing a good job and given tasks of a challenging nature.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Line manager was always on hand as a friend as much as a manager. Had MY interests at heart rather than those of the company.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy, but always told to not overwork - the overworking was a personal choice to get most out of the job. Always a chance to relax or unwind if needed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in a position where I could easily make big mistakes or mess things up hugely (take down the msn.com website for eg) but trusted and shown how to do the right job.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Chance to do all the Microsoft certified exams for free. Encouraged to develop personally also, whether through research time or whatever. Never pushed into working in place of this.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My team were serious for work but up for some fun, going out for a drink or lunch. Decorated the office at seasonal times etc.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Current interns organise the induction for next years interns and is overseen by the recruitment (which is also organised largely by interns). I was collected promptly and had tasks for first day. Work ensued.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Constantly learning through working. All the Microsoft certified exams are available to take advantage of for free including the literature to borrow from their library. All down to you.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • My team are eager to take me back if there are vacancies when I return, otherwise I will be fast-tracked through all the preliminary stages of the MACH (grad) scheme.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Had so many great nights out with my housemates (also interns here) and made friends I'll have forever. Depended on friendship groups but I would say my house/friends enjoyed it thoroughly.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive as it is in London (our office anyway). Our house was in Wimbledon which is very expensive (£500 pm each) but the area is great and the transport is a dream. Going out obviously is also very expensive but usually great fun.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Victoria doesn't have the greatest nightlife but is in central London so it's very easy to get to great areas for a night out. Enough bars and pubs around to make it for lunch and after work though.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Challenger is very fun and varied, there are a number of club similar to university clubs and societies. Enough other employees to find someone interested in your interests.

    4/5
