The Role
The work was interesting and I was given a lot of responsibility. I always had support when it was needed.
My team and people I worked with in the department always said when there was a job well done. Comments about not wanting me to leave and the quality of my work in their eyes made me feel a valued member of the department.
I had weekly meetings with my day-to-day manager to check I had enough work and the progress I was making with projects. I also had weekly reviews with my manager to check I felt I had the right level of work, whether there was anything else I wanted to experience whilst I was here and generally how everything was going.
I was able to work on different projects during the internship, which gave me a really broad exposure to the business
None of the work I was given was just to fill my time. Every project I did would have been done by a permanent member of staff if I had not been there.
I really got to udnerstand the structure of deals, the different tools used HR on their works, which is something that can only be taught in an internship like this
The Company
Everyone was really happy about their job, which creates a good atmosphere
Everything was really smooth, I had the opportunity to attend conferences on various subjects during the internship, without it ever affecting my work
The company sent me on several courses that have will benefit me in the future when looking for a job. Overall I think they had invested just under a thousand pounds in me sending me on internal and external training courses.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
If there was a opportunity after university I would apply to go back as they are a good company to work for.
The Culture
The analysts and associate, even sometime more senior people, in our team and within the department, would sometimes take us out for a drink on a friday, which was a good way to discover them on a social scene
The cost for eating was low as there was a choice of local places to eat. The only downside is bus/ tram fare, because they did do discount fare for uni students.
I got to hang out with fellow interns sometimes in really cool places.
There was an opportunity to go to a weekend football tournament, and go out for drinks with colleagues after work.
