    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed both my time in Australia and in the UK hugely!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • For the first few weeks in Sydney it was mainly a shadowing role, but I was able to help on work tasks occasionally. In London, I was given more work.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support I got was very good on the whole. Both from graduates and more senior members of the teams I worked with.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were occasions where there wasn't much work going on but generally I was kept busy. The more proactive you are in asking people in your team, the more you will get providing the work you do is good.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It is hard to give an intern too much responsibility but I felt I was given more as I went on. It was good call be given the responsibility of calling other professinal in the industry, whether to discuss the market or find out particular information.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very much so. For example I was given basic training of how to use Circle Software, which has been useful as I have now started with Portfolio Valuations. It was useful to see what the standard should be for client reports and the attention to detail required.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Both with Savills in Sydney and London, I enjoyed the atmosphere. There is a hard working culture but also like to have a good time away from work.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In Australia the organisation for my internship was excellent. The whole HR team were very good at organising everything for whilst I was there. I had an itinerary of what I was going to do every day. In London, again the organisation was very good. The only annoying thing was not having an email set up for the first 4 days.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have just started on the graduate programme and I saw the summer internship as a genuine chance to acheive this. I think Savills understand that an intern could potentially one day be in a senior position and therefore look to teach the fundamentals very early.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have just started on the grad scheme doing my first rotation with Portfolio Valuations. I had heard that people had done it on previous years and that if I perfomed well then my chances would be quite high. Still had to go to assessment centre and have an interview which were both hard but think the interning probably helped me.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes a good social scene.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • In Sydney it was VERY expensive, and obviously London is also. Luckily Savills payed for my accomodation in Sydney and I had a place to stay in London, so therefore I was able to spend money on socials.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Sydney V gooa and London V good.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • In Sydney I joined in an early morning fitness session around the Royal Botanical Gardens, which was quite random but enjoyed it. Otherwise there weren't really any sport events I did whilst doing my internship.
