The Role
I really enjoyed the placement, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be and didn't want to leave by the end.
The colleagues were very welcoming and friendly and were happy to answer any questions I had.
I had student actuaries that supported me and my team managers checked I was doing okay regularly which was good.
Although people warned me I might be quiet this was not the case and I was busy everyday with a mixture of work, the summer project set filled any potential quiet moments.
There was a good range of responsibility which my work being checked in the same way as everyone else's and people asking me to check their work in return.
The skills learnt are essential for the career and the training was really useful and a great insight into what I would be doing if I pursued it as a career.
The Company
There was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the office but also very hardworking.
The placement was well organised with clear information provided in the lead up and on arrival. Training sessions in other offices were organised well too.
Employees gave up their time to give us training sessions on certain topics and many people were happy to help me out if I had any problems or questions. The training was a great way to get to know different people and really benefited you in terms of the work you were doing so it was very worthwhile.
Company Parties/Events
I would happily accept a grad job from them as I really liked the office, the people and the work.
The Culture
There were lots of opportunities for after work drinks and celebratory drinks, also some sports activities. Shame there wasn't more for female sports!
Renting in London is expensive but this is just the way it is.
There are so many bars, restaurants and pubs near the office there is plenty of choice.
There were quite a few opportunities, not masses whilst we were there but lots being done previously or organised for the future. The summer party was good to be able to go to.
