    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was enjoyable - the work was very interesting, and what I wanted to do

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I think the team valued me

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support, but could have been given more guidance

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy most days, although some parts of days were a bit slow (depends on the market/ how many people are in the office / how much work there is to do).

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My skills and training probably wouldn't help me much in my degree (my subject is taught in a very theoretical way). However, they will help me a lot going forward in my career.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was nice and friendly but pretty quiet.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well set up and organised

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a lot of training and teach-ins.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Appealing - the grad scheme looks well-run and once you join you are on a clear path to advancing within the organisation. Not sure about how much hiring they will be doing yet, however.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was good - we went out most fridays. Most interns were quite social and there were a few of us, so you could generally find someone to go for a drink with after work/ on the weekend.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very high but (1) It is central London - what do you expect? (2) You can afford it.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It is London, so very good, if expensive.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some organised drinks and networking events for interns, but not much else in general. However, I worked 12-13 hours a day so was usually too tired to do much after work, or would prefer the evening free to see my friends/ go to the gym. So it is not really a negative.

    3/5
