    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. I was given a variety of tasks that improved my skills but also helped me progress as an individual. I was involved in a lot of tasks with a lot of responsibility which definitely made the placement, working with others in the same situation as you helped as well.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was made to feel one of the team. My manager would get me involved in meetings/tasks that other interns in the company would not get involved with which made me feel valued. The scope of tasks that would be given by the team all had high levels of responsibility. However there were times where I worked weekends on my own at events where I felt one of the team could of been there to help me out.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support by my manager and the rest of my team. My manager would also check on how I was doing and there was always someone in the organization that could help me out if I had a problem. However there were times where tasks were given to you with a brief description and if the department was out

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had my daily tasks to get on with as well as my long term projects. If the daily tasks had been done I could turn my attention to the tasks with later deadlines. There were several occasions where you would get tasks out of the blue which would need to be done as soon as possible. But sometimes I felt even though the team knew that I had a task that needed my complete attention, other tasks should still be done on time, which was frustrating.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given high levels of responsibility during my placement. My manager would involve me in projects that would be seen my higher management which felt good. I also did training events by myself which had a lot of responsibility. The level of responsibility increased throughout the year.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have definitely obtained skills that will help me in my final year of university. My role involved a lot of time management and attention to detail which will be helpful in the final year. Also interacting with customers and management helped me with my communication skills which will help me in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was good, there was another 12 students working in the same division as me so we all worked close to each other. Overall it was quite relaxed and you could take a break and talk with the other students if you wanted.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was set up very well, the team gave me an outline on my first day of my tasks and responsibility's, but I was the first intern for my team as they were a new department in the division, so at times they expected me to do things that I wouldn't expect to be doing as part of my placement.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company did provide some training for us, at the start of the year we had training sessions to help us gain knowledge of the products we were marketing which was good, also some processes that were involved in our everyday roles, we had training at the start of the placement for these.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are no graduate schemes offered in the particular area of business I was in. But quite a few of the product managers had been previous placement students at the company. Bosch is such a big company, anything can happen.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene with the majority of the students, living with some definitely helped, there was always planned nights out and met up outside of work on the weekend. It was good that there were about 20-25 students working at the company, so there was quite a big group of us.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in the London area was quite expensive, Uxbridge town itself was good and prices were okay if you just wanted to get food and a few drinks.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Uxbridge is not a place with a lot of nightlife. Usually we did trips to each others University's on the weekend because there was not much going on in Uxbridge. However there were places to go eat and have a few drinks. You could also go into London on the tube but it would be very expensive just for one night !

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Emails were always sent around about different events during the year, you would get this if you joined the social club, but the students would make their own plans. Also at events, especially big ones, we would always have a night out.

    3/5
